Our professional learning is for individual educators, school and cohort-based teams, providing pathways for educators to begin and continue their learning with us.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to empower educators to thrive, whether teaching in online or in-person learning environments.

Global Online Academy is pleased to announce the development of our new Center for Professional Learning. GOA’s mission is to empower students and educators to thrive in a globally networked society. Our Center for Professional Learning lives this charge by designing and delivering programming that supports teachers and school leaders in refining their practice to improve student learning outcomes.

The Center for Professional Learning offers learning pathways by providing access to expert content and coaching that, as demonstrated from our work in our Student Program, is proven and effective. Our high quality online learning experiences for educators includes areas such as instructional design, competency-based learning, feedback and assessment, curriculum development, and student agency.

Professional development has been our avenue to scale our impact by working with thousands of educators and reaching hundreds of thousands of students. Our professional learning courses and programs—on-site and online, short-term and long-term, for small cohorts or large groups— are grounded in experience, facilitated by expert educators, and developed in response to timeless concerns and current needs. The result: teachers elevate their practice; students learn in changed classrooms; and schools have a trusted partner in professional growth.

What We Believe

Professional learning shifts educator practice to improve student learning outcomes.

Our mission calls for us to reimagine learning, which includes reimagining systems and structures to create a more socially just world in which students and educators can thrive. In all of our programming, we prompt educators, regardless of the discipline or grade they teach, to reflect on their own practice and design experiences that will inspire and empower a future generation to be compassionate and critical thinkers.

The Center for Professional Learning team recognizes the platform and voice we hold in the field of education. We will continue to share our process of responding explicitly and with intentional focus on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
