Assess for Learning: Essentials

Assess for Learning is a one-hour, self-paced course that defines what we mean when we talk about student-centered assessment. Through classroom examples and an outcomes-based rubric, the course introduces the look-fors that teachers can identify in their own practice and potential shifts they can make to ensure that assessment directly impacts student learning.

When we assess for learning, we gather evidence that shapes learning, and the evidence we gather leads to actions that impact student growth. This one-hour course establishes a common understanding of the what, why, and how of assessing for learning. Guided by short videos highlighting classroom examples and a workbook for application and reflection, the course introduces the look-fors that teachers can identify in their own practice and potential shifts they can make to ensure that assessment is directly impacting student learning. Culminating in a self-assessment of assessment practices, participants will leave with an outcomes-based rubric and a strategies playlist to support future shifts in practice.
