Cohort | Assess for Learning with AI

This Zoom-based cohort brings together a community of educators interested in exploring how to leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assessment design. Through a series of four generative, one-hour monthly sessions, cohort members will experiment with integrating AI into different components of assessing for learning: learning criteria, authentic demonstrations of learning, formative assessment, and reflection and feedback. Facilitated by a GOA professional learning coach, the cohort is designed to be a supportive and collaborative learning environment where educators can innovate, exchange ideas, and receive feedback from a community of peers. By the end of the cohort, educators will have a deeper understanding of how AI can be used to improve assessment practices and promote deeper student learning.

• Classroom educators across all grades and content areas

• Educators who are new to using AI and are interested in experimenting with potential use cases for assessment design in the classroom. This is meant to be an exploratory experience (You are excited to learn alongside a community of educators. No experience with AI is required)

• Educators needing high-impact, low-time-commitment learning experiences

• School teams seeking to establish common language and approaches to assessment for learning

Assess for Learning with AI is designed to be an exploratory experience; you’ll get the opportunity to investigate and test out new ideas with a cohort of educators. Along the way, we’ll try to synthesize findings on how AI may impact components of assessing for learning:

• Establishing clear learning criteria and aligning experiences and assessments to that criteria

• Designing authentic demonstrations of learning that prioritize purpose and relevance

• Creating opportunities for student-led reflection and metacognition

• Implementing ongoing formative assessments informing students of learning progress and growth areas

• Creating structures that provide students with timely and actionable feedback throughout learning processes
