Cohort | Foster Student-Led Learning with AI

This Zoom-based cohort brings together a community of educators interested in exploring how to leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in promoting student-led learning in their schools and classrooms. How might we design with AI tools and empower students to use AI tools in ways that develop student agency? Through a series of four generative, one-hour monthly sessions, cohort members will experiment with integrating AI into different components of student-led learning design. We will explore how AI can support developing voice and choice, scaffolds for engagement, personalized pathways, and co-designed experiences. Facilitated by a GOA professional learning coach, the cohort is a collaborative learning environment where educators can innovate, share, and receive feedback from a community of peers. By the end of the cohort, educators will have a deeper understanding of how AI can be used to foster student-led Learning and promote student agency.

• Classroom educators across all grades and content areas

• Educators who are interested in experimenting with AI to promote student-led learning in the classroom. This is meant to be an exploratory experience (You are excited to learn alongside a community of educators. No experience with AI is required)

• Educators needing high-impact, low-time-commitment learning experiences

• School teams seeking to establish common language and approaches to fostering student agency

Foster Student-Led Learning with AI is designed to be an exploratory experience; you’ll get the opportunity to investigate and test out new ideas with a cohort of educators. Along the way, we’ll try to synthesize findings on how AI may impact components of fostering student-led learning:

• Creating pathways to support students to self direct learning

• Providing choice and voice in how students show and share their learning

• Designing scaffolds for students to make decisions regarding engagement and content

• Empowering students to effectively reflect and provide feedback

• Partnering with students to co-design learning experiences
