What this is
A two-day online course for educators looking to learn about and apply foundational accessibility principles to their own learning resources.
How might we design more equitable and engaging learning experiences for all students? How might we foster a greater sense of belonging by ensuring our teaching and learning materials are accessible to all students? In this asynchronous, two-day course led by GOA’s Design Lab team, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and apply foundational accessibility principles to their own learning resources (online pages and assignments, slide decks, and handouts). Using the lenses of inclusive language, multimedia, and design, participants will be invited to take concrete action to make the learning resources they design more inviting and inclusive to learners. Accessibility strategies will be examined and concretized through examples from online learning experiences and digital resources.
Participants can expect approximately 2 hours of engagement with primary course content and will leave the experience with a rubric to assess accessibility, remediated materials, and practical strategies to support ongoing learning.
