NEW! Quick Wins Series: Engaging Learners in Hybrid and Online Learning

GOA’s Quick Wins Series responds to real-time needs in online and hybrid learning. Thoughtfully designed topics in an email format provide a fast framework for just-in-time professional development. Content is delivered in a format that empowers teachers to apply strategies quickly and to share ideas nimbly with networks. Topical weekly emails share carefully curated resources, compelling examples of teacher adaptations, and a design sprint framework for putting ideas into action.

The Quick Wins Series features a robust rotation of topics, applicable across grades, content areas, and contexts each week for three weeks, from October 13 through October 30. The Quick Wins Series centers on strategies that elevate the student experience, prioritizing agency, transfer, and equity and a skills-based approach. Each week of the three week series will focus on a topic designed to support the engagement of learners in online and hybrid learning environments. The topics are:

    • Week 1: Mix it Up! Providing choice for communication and participation
    • Week 2: Make it Visual! Using visible thinking protocols to structure peer learning interactions
    • Week 3: Show and Share Student Work! Elevating voices of all learners through exhibitions of learning

The Quick Wins Series is applicable to educators across grade levels. The Series is intentionally designed to be:

    • Collaborative: Ideal for teachers, school teams, and instructional coaches
    • Flexible: Fits within a teacher schedule; approximately one to two hours of work a week
    • Personalized: Apply what you need to your own course and context as you need it

    How it Works

Every Tuesday from October 13 through the 30th (October 13th, 20th and 27th) you will receive an email containing:

    • Highly curated visual resources and examples straight to your inbox for each lesson
    • A Design Sprint framework for implementing the lesson in your course or classroom
    • A new instructional video from the GOA professional learning team with overview, examples, and instructions for applying concepts to your course or classroom
    • A call to action which includes specific suggestions for utilizing GOA’s professional learning resources with colleagues in your schools and networks

Alignment to GOA professional learning courses

GOA has developed educator competencies and learning outcomes for high quality online learning, and all lessons in our Quick Wins Series are aligned to the following competencies. Educators can:

    • Use tools to know, support, and empower students.
    • Design online assessments that lead to high-quality student work.
    • Design learning experiences that students can navigate on their own.
    • Facilitate learning experiences to support student engagement.

The purpose of GOA’s professional learning offerings are to support and enhance student learning through shifting educator practice. Our Quick Wins Series is intentionally designed to support the professional growth of educators and meet them where they are through a variety of means of engagement: video, audio, and email as well as downloadable visuals, graphics, and PDFs. We recommend participants sign up in teams. School leaders may consider how this series supports and complements needs and goals. GOA has offered a variety of courses and programs to support and empower educators in developing and designing high quality online and hybrid learning. The Quick Wins Series is a continuation of this work and is intentionally designed for educator efficacy, allowing educators to learn new ideas to enhance student learning with maximum flexibility and experience a “quick win.”

The Quick Wins Series is free for GOA members and $150 for non-members.
