Course Overview

Abnormal Psychology Classes Online

This course focuses on psychiatric disorders, such as:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Eating Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Substance Abuse
  • Depression

A Focus On Atypical Psychological Conditions

As students examine these and other disorders, they will learn about their symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments. Students also deepen their understanding of the social stigmas associated with mental illnesses, often as a vehicle for enabling them to develop empathy for those who struggle with mental disorders and those who support them.

While this online Abnormal Psychology course provides students with a general introduction to the western field of abnormal psychology, it will often explore the cultural assumptions within the field, as well as how our increasingly global world influences mental health in diverse settings.
