Teach for GOA

Recruiting the best of the best

GOA teachers are part of a global community of students and educators exploring new ways to learn. They are experimenters, designers, and learners.

Great teachers care about students, are deeply passionate about the subject they teach, and love to geek out about the craft of teaching. That is the core of who we are and who we look for to teach in our program.

What Teaching at GOA Is

GOA is a nonprofit learning network where students and teachers from around the world learn together online. Our courses are built around relationships and intellectual challenge. When you teach here, you step into a community that values thoughtful design, clear purpose, and genuine connection.

Teaching at GOA often recalibrates how educators think about their work. Many discover new clarity about what meaningful learning looks like. Others return to their home schools with stronger practices and a deeper sense of their role as educational leaders. This is not accidental. GOA is structured to support reflection, collaboration, and growth.

We’re accepting applications! We are seeking new faculty across our program, with particular interest in educators with expertise in languages, AP® courses, math, psychology, and the sciences. We also welcome applicants with interdisciplinary teaching experience. Submit an application here.

Why Teach at GOA

If you believe strong relationships, intellectual rigor, and thoughtful design make great learning possible, GOA is a place where you can practice that work with intention. Our teachers make a real impact on students and often on their own professional lives as well.

Who Thrives Here

The teachers who thrive at GOA share three commitments.

  • They invest in students. They build trust, pay attention, and give feedback that moves learning forward. They know that relationships make rigorous work possible.
  • They are energized by their subject. They want students to engage with real ideas and real challenges. They expect students to think, question, create, and apply.
  • They treat teaching as craft. They reflect, adapt, and keep learning. They collaborate well. They appreciate coaching. They understand how to use digital tools to support learning rather than complicate it.

How the Role Works

GOA teachers usually teach one section of about twenty students, and for courses with multiple sections, you’ll join a team of colleagues who share responsibility for the course and work together to refine its design. You also receive training, ongoing learning opportunities, and support to help you navigate teaching online.

Teachers prepare during the summer through our Faculty Camp and ongoing collaboration with their course teams. Throughout the year, faculty continue learning together as they teach, support students, and update curriculum.

Compensation

GOA pays 7,000 dollars per semester for teaching a section.
