Course Overview

Dive Into How Minds Work: What does it mean to study the mind and behavior through different lenses? In this course, you’ll explore biological, cognitive, and sociocultural perspectives while preparing for the AP® Exam. Fully aligned with College Board requirements, the course covers research methods and ethics, the biological bases of behavior, cognition, development and learning, social and personality psychology, and mental and physical health. You’ll practice the methods and perspectives of psychologists by redesigning studies, analyzing data, and applying theories to case studies.

Why Take This Course? If you’re curious about why people think, feel, and act the way they do, this course offers a deep exploration of the science of mind and behavior. You’ll strengthen your ability to apply concepts, design and critique research, interpret data, and make evidence-based arguments—skills that sharpen your critical and scientific thinking and help you better understand both science and everyday life.

This is a yearlong course. Students may enroll in a GOA AP® course only if their member school offers AP® courses as part of its academic program. For schools that do not offer AP®, the site director may not approve requests for GOA AP® courses.
