Legal Studies Immersive: Law in Action
Course Overview
Make Your Case: What does it actually take to build a legal argument, advise a client, or persuade a judge? In this yearlong immersive course, you’ll take on the roles lawyers play every day, analyzing real cases, interpreting statutes, and applying legal reasoning to problems drawn from constitutional, criminal, civil, and contract law. You’ll practice the core skills of the profession, including breaking down court opinions, identifying issues, weighing evidence, writing persuasively, and arguing both sides of a question. Working with a global cohort, you’ll examine how law shapes daily life around the world and how it reflects, and sometimes resists, changing ideas about justice. The course culminates in a capstone where you argue a case or advise a client on a real-world legal issue.
Why Take This Course? Whether you’re considering a career in law or simply want to become a sharper thinker, this course develops the reasoning, writing, and advocacy skills that matter far beyond the courtroom. You’ll understand how the legal system works, how to build a compelling argument, and how to think like a lawyer.
This is a yearlong course.
